What happens at a Sourdough Class?
Learn how to make real sourdough using only flour, water and salt (no commercial yeast)! Our sourdough classes will teach the basics from feeding and caring for sourdough starter, mixing dough, and baking it. It is for everyone. Of every skill level, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced baker looking to try something new! Classes typically run from 9am to 2:30pm and include lunch.
How much do classes cost?
The cost is $200+HST which must be prepaid to reserve a spot. This makes an excellent gift too!
Here’s what the cost includes! Each student baker will receive
• A basic understanding of the principles of sourdough bread making with a unique hands-on learning experience
• One baking kit consisting of:
o 1 Banneton (proofing basket)
o A sharp tool for "scoring" bread before baking
o 1 bench scraper
o 1 loaf of freshly baked sourdough bread to take home
o A jar of established sourdough starter, along with instruction to properly care for her
o 1 loaf of bread in the new banneton, to be cooked at home
o Organic Ontario flour
o Access to our exclusive alumni Facebook page for collaboration and support with all graduates of Hazel & Rosemary's sourdough classes, past & present
Lunch is included.
Come prepared for several hours of learning, conversation, and tasty food!
What is the cancellation policy?
All classes are non-refundable. We are unable to re-sell your ticket. Please contact us with any questions.
No changes are allowed if the class is missed, however, we welcome you to send someone in your place. This is a strict policy, with NO exceptions due to weather, illness, traffic, etc. In the event of extreme weather class cancellations a credit will be issued.
If you fail to attend a class, no credit and no make-up classes are offered.
Hazel & Rosemary reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrolment with a minimum of 48 hours prior notice.
